Would the Real Prayer Warrior Please Stand Up?

Okay, ya’ll. It’s time for Transparent Tuesday.

Here’s the transparency: We are blessed.

We keep getting these amazing messages via FB, the blog, text, and email that say you’re praying for us. We are so encouraged and pretty overwhelmed by your love. And I have to tell you four really cool ways that God is answering your prayers.

First of all, I continue to have essentially NO symptoms (other than first 5 minutes in the morning) from the medication. In fact, I feel AMAZING. Secondly, we both continue to have an overwhelming peace the closer we get. We are 24 days away now and we are incredibly at peace. It’s not a peace that comes from knowing what’s going to happen or being assured that this is all going to work out. It’s a peace that comes from knowing who Jesus is. I was journaling today and write this:

“Lord, you are faithful. I know this not just in my mind, but also in my heart. I know it because you’ve allowed me to know YOU.”

Knowing Him changes everything.

It’s amazing really. It’s prayer and it’s Jesus. I know He’s good no matter what. I know He loves us and our babies no matter what. I know He’s with us no matter what. I know He’s sovereign no matter what. I know Him. That’s a knowledge that can’t be shaken based on circumstances. So thanks for praying. Keep praying that our foundation would be on the rock (Matthew 7:24-27)!

The third way I know your prayers are being answered is that Jason and I have been having some amazing, albeit hard, conversations. We are learning what it looks like to walk through this together. This is certainly a different experience than anything we’ve ever walked through.

I need him and he needs me and we need each other in different ways.

Showing support and serving one another brings glory to God and we are both trying to figure out what that looks like. For me it means better communication about what I’m thinking and feeling and what I need from him. It also means asking the questions to see how his heart is doing. And for him, it means doing the small thoughtful things to show me that he’s thinking of me, praying for our family, and right here by my side. It’s been awesome, really. It’s bringing our relationship to a whole new level. This morning I got this email from him:

“Kate McKenzie,

It would be my honor if you would accompany me for a special Post Embryo Transfer Dinner. I have included a link to a number of restaurants to choose from. Please peruse the list and notify me when you have decided on your restaurant.

I look forward to your response.”

Too cute for words.

Finally, a fourth way that your prayers are being answered is that God keeps talking to us. He’s been blessing us with some amazing “coincidences”—or “God-winks.” We won’t share them just yet, but let’s just say He’s been doing a lot of talking. We feel His presence so clearly and He continues to confirm for us that He is RIGHT here. It’s been pretty emotionally overwhelming, to be honest. In a good way. I’m keeping a record of all that is happening and we hope to be able to share it with you some day to give Him some major glory.

Until then, thank you. Thank you for taking time out of your day to bring us and our babies before His throne. Thank you for letting us know you’re with us on this journey. Thank you for being amazing friends and family. We certainly know we are not walking this journey alone.

One final thought.

As I was thinking yesterday about writing this post, I was going to entitle it, “Come Clean, You Prayer Warriors, You!” And I was going to say…someone sure is praying for us and tell you all of the ways we feel it and know it. But I changed the title because of something God showed me last night. As much as we know we’ve got friends and family praying, God led me to this verse last night:

“Christ Jesus is…at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.” (Romans 8:34)

Say what? Jesus is my prayer warrior?

I knew that. But I forgot that. And I froze when I read it. What an amazing comfort. He’s interceding for our family right now. Not maybe. Not sorta. Not kinda. INDEED. He is my #1 prayer warrior. How humbling is that? He’s talking to His dad about me. About Jason. About our kids and our family. Wow.

Amazing, right?

Where do you need to know today that the Son of God is INDEED interceding for you?

Because, indeed, He intercedes for you too, friend.
