Do It Yourself Oscar Night

This is our fifth year in a row celebrating the Oscars…

and we’re super excited for a night of fun. Typically we try and see as many of the movies ahead of time, and then have some fun the night of!

Tonight is the 84th Academy Awards.

It’s super fun to watch all of the red carpet coverage as well as the awards to see all the big winners of the night! This year we’re doing two different things to entertain ourselves:

1. Voting for winners in all categories using this ballot. Each category is assigned a different point value. You are awarded points for correctly choosing the winner of each corresponding category. There are 65 possible points (we happen to be competing against some very stiff competition in Boulder, Colorado!). Here they are:

10 points-  Best Picture
5 points-    Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress
3 points-    Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Animated Feature Film, Best Foreign Film, Best Original Screeplay, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Documentary
2 points-    Best Original Song, Best Original Score, Best Documentary (Short), Best Makeup, Best Short Film (Animated), Best Short Film (Live Action)
1 point-       Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects

There you have it! That’s the first portion of our night. You can play for $, for fun, or for whatever the heck suits your fancy. The second part, is…

2. Oscar Night Bingo! Download the Bingo Cards here. Or, here’s another option for Oscar Bingo Cards (a bit more subjective, but fun!) This makes some of the boring speeches and long drawn out Oscar coverage more fun and entertaining!

Add in fun drinks and fun food and fun people, or just you, your TV and your prom dress and you’ll be all set!

Hope you have a fun night!

  1. Kate – we didn’t watch the Oscars because we saw few movies this past year.
One to put on your watchlist for next time: ‘Good Deeds’ with Tyler Perry.
Just watched it this past weekend – Awesome flick!
